Hi all,
For my next recipe I would like to share I thought I would go with one of Sawyer's favorites, brussel sprouts! I'm not sure how I possibly thought to try them, because I don't even like brussel sprouts. I think I just walked passed them in the store and saw they were small and could be easily PUREED! Here goes:
10 brussel sprouts
1 sprig tarragon/1 tsp. dried tarragon
2 purple basil leaves/pinch of dried basil
pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
pinch of salt
water
First rinse the sprouts and add to large pot (don't stack). Add water just to cover sprouts, add all seasoning/herbs. Turn stove on low, and cook for about an hour or till the sprouts are real nice and tender. Take your skimmer spoon and add to processor. After you add all the sprouts (you may have to do a double batch) add a touch of water from the pot to start. Then proceed to puree away! Blend to the consistency meets your standards. Sawyer likes it thick but smooth.
*Tip don't add a lot of water at first because the food soaks up a lot!* Learned that by trial and error...plus if you freeze it and thaw it, it becomes more watery from the ice chips that melt away inside the puree.
There you have it one of Sawyer's favs, hope your little one enjoys it just as much as Sawyer does. I know I still don't like them, and here I thought well shoot if he likes them I have too as well...NOPE!
